Association of Government Accountants
AGA A U.S. professional *public sector accounting organization. Founded in 1950 as the Federal Government Accountants Association, the association adopted its current name in 1975. It is headquartered in Alexandria, VA. The AGA’s Web site states that it "serves government accountability professionals by providing quality education, fostering professional development and certification, and supporting standards and research to advance government accountability." Its activities include publication of the quarterly Journal of Government Financial Management and a monthly newsletter, Government Financial Management TOPICS. The AGA membership stood at approximately 18,000 in 2003. Web site: www.agacgfm.org
